One of my family member, defined culture as race, religion, class and gender. Diversity was defined as different groups of people. One of our family friend described culture as how we decorate our house, how we dress up our children, ourselves. It’s about our belief, values and even mission. Diversity was defined as people who are different in culture and living in the same country. One of my other family member described culture as how we walk, talk, look, see and also how you make facial expressions. Diversity was defined as different people are different in many ways, but live together. |
After listening to other people’s definitions of culture and diversity, I think that as each of us is different and unique all of us have different definition of culture and diversity, but the meaning is the same. Everyone has defined culture and diversity according to their importance. First family member have given surface culture more importance, second and third member have given deep culture importance. After collaborating with others, we come to know how they feel about culture and diversity. So in our profession after observing and interaction with parents and children, we recognize their culture and try to support them. |
